The waves follow each other but are not alike. After a month of sudden resumption of viral circulation, the Covid-19 epidemic appears to be starting to stall. While the circulation of SARS-CoV-2 is still very intense throughout France, “We are seeing a slowdown in the increase in incidence”, reported Public Health France (SPF) during a decryption point on Friday, August 6. In parallel, “The increase in new hospitalizations and admissions in critical care has accelerated, confirming the hospital impact of this fourth epidemic wave”, notes the epidemiological bulletin published Thursday.

During week 30, from July 26 to 1is In August, the increase in incidence from the previous week was only 17%, down from 94% a week earlier. There are now 225 new contaminations per 100,000 inhabitants in one week, ie the level of incidence at the very end of April. The reproduction rate, which indicates the number of secondary contaminations that an infected person will cause, is also falling, from 1.89 to 1.27. But this rate, still greater than 1, means that the epidemic continues to progress. “Are we going to observe a plateau, are we going to observe a peak?” We are not diviners and we must remain cautious about the interpretation of these figures “, underlined Friday Bruno Coignard, director of the department of infectious diseases at SPF.

A similar phenomenon was observed in the United Kingdom in mid-July, followed by a sudden drop in contaminations, which now seem to have stagnated at a high level of on average 26,000 new cases per day. If it is impossible to explain this phenomenon with certainty, several hypotheses can be formulated, in particular the arrival of the summer period.

Immunity “getting high”

?Both France and the rest of Europe (and the United Kingdom) are entering into a form of ?semi-confinement? in summer, with schools, universities and many businesses closed. Urban transport is much less overloaded, social interactions are more restricted and more often outside, the premises are better ventilated ?, emphasizes Antoine Flahault, professor of public health and director of the Institute of Global Health (University of Geneva). These are all elements that help to curb the spread of Covid-19. “We must add to this an immunity which is becoming high in the population, but also the pursuit of barrier gestures and the gradual establishment of the health pass or its equivalent in Europe”, adds the epidemiologist.

TANGERANG- Disc Jockey (DJ) Dinar Candy Recently, he has been in the spotlight because of his actions. The act of wearing a bikini in a public space on August 4, 2021, said the DJ was the peak of stress for him facing PPKM.

“Yesterday was the peak, what I was really stressed about,” said Dinar Candy at his residence in the Cirendeu area, South Tangerang, Friday, August 6, 2021.

Dinar Candy explained that for the past 4 months, she has been suffering from stress due to having to take a job outside her field.

“Many jobs that I take are not in accordance with my profession. I’m a DJ, but I take many other professions that put me under pressure,” he explained.

“Like, for example, Dinar once sold the interior. Now that was the first time he was stressed. If I wasn’t stressed, I couldn’t have done it, because I used to focus on DJing. I didn’t make any weird sensations like that. ,” continued Dinar Candy.

Through this action, Dinar just wanted to reduce the stress he was facing. Not protesting the implementation of PPKM as people think.

“I just want to express my stress, because I can’t keep it to myself. The story is indeed to close people, but what can I do, I want more. I’ve had a lot of things,” he said.

Unfortunately, Dinar Candy’s action was deemed to have fulfilled the elements of a pornographic crime by South Jakarta Metro Police investigators. So that Dinar was named a suspect for violating Article 36 of Law no. 44 of 2008 concerning Pornography.

Luckily for Dinar Candy, the cooperative attitude he showed during the examination process prevented the South Jakarta Metro Police investigators from making arrests. (night)

The Supreme Electoral Council (CSE) of Nicaragua on Friday, August 6, disqualified the Citizens for Freedom party (CxL, right), the main opposition party to President Daniel Ortega, for the November 7 elections.

“The legal personality of the political party Citizens for Freedom (CxL) [a été] canceled “, according to a resolution of the CSE read by the secretary of the electoral tribunal Luis Luna in front of the press linked to the government.

President Ortega, who is running for a fourth consecutive term, and his wife (and vice president) Rosario Murillo now face no serious candidates for the Nov. 7 election.

A denunciation of the PLC

The elimination of the CxL from the electoral race comes a few hours after a request to this effect from the Liberal Constitutionalist Party (PLC, right), accused of appeasing the government.

The PLC argued that the CxL party has “As president the citizen Carmella Rogers Amburn, who has dual nationality [américaine et nicaraguayenne] in clear violation of the law “. Consequently, according to the PLC, the CSE had to “Declare the nullity of all acts of the CxL party”.

At the end of July, the CxL had appointed Oscar Sobalvarro, a 68-year-old former counter-revolutionary, and Berenice Quezada, a former beauty queen with no political experience, as candidates for the presidency and vice-presidency respectively. But he had been deprived this week of his candidate for vice-president. The latter’s house was surrounded by police on Tuesday after a group of supporters of President Ortega’s government accused her of launching a “Implicit call to violence, to hatred”.

Other political parties disqualified

According to the electoral calendar, the Supreme Electoral Council has until August 9 to validate the candidatures for the presidential election. But, even before its elimination, the CxL had all the difficulties in the world to convince another candidate to apply for the vice-president.

Two other opposition political parties have previously been disqualified in recent months by the CSE: the Conservative Party and the Party for Democratic Restoration.

A total of 31 opponents, including seven pre-presidential candidates, have been arrested since the beginning of June on charges of money laundering or treason, under legislation adopted at the end of 2020 whose political implications make it possible to reduce the opposition to silence sparked an international outcry.

Five Olympic Games, seventeen years of career at the highest level, thirteen titles of world champion and now ten Olympic medals. The American may not have won the title in the 400-meter event on Friday August 6, but at 35, she has shown record longevity in performance. In 2005, she became the youngest world champion in the 200 meters, at the age of nineteen. “You are getting older and everything seems harder”, she had quipped before the start of the Olympics.

In Tokyo, for her last Olympic participation, she added a bronze medal – beaten by Bahamian Shaunae Miller and Dominican Marileidy Paulino – in her awards cabinet, which alone could fill the halls of an American high school. It was the only metal he lacked: six in gold, three in silver and therefore one in bronze. ?It was something that I felt I could accomplish. I feel like I’ve come a long way since every other Games. This one is just different ?, she said after the race.

In Rio, she had already equaled another queen, “Queen Merlene Ottey”, who also investigated the medals in another sense: three in silver and six in bronze. Never an Olympic champion – an anomaly – the Jamaican was already far behind in terms of the number of Olympic titles.

Eleventh medal in the 4 x 400 meters

Saturday, ?Chicken legs? – her nickname since her early high school years – will also have the opportunity to add an eleventh charm in the women’s 4 x 400 meters final. On this occasion, the Californian, trained by the experienced Bob Kersee, would set another record: she would become the most medalist athlete of the Games – all sexes combined – in front of another idol of athletics made in the USA, Carl Lewis.

With one particularity, Allyson Felix has won only one individual title: the 200 meters of the London Games in 2012. The other five were won with her teammates in the 4 x 400 meters and 4 x 100 meters. Of his ten medals, Lewis has won seven in individual events, including an incredible quadruplet in the long jump between 1984 and 1996. Jamaican Usain Bolt, international sprint star of the past fifteen years, was himself. , stopped at eight medals, all in gold, including six solo.

But the record holder for individual Olympic titles is an American athlete from another era. The elastic man, Ray Ewry, gleaned his eight gold medals thanks to individual jumping events? without momentum between 1900 and 1908: the triple jump, the high jump and the long jump.

Victims of prejudice

Allyson Felix, who became a mother in 2018 to a little girl born prematurely, had to fight to return to competition: against the health concerns of her child and against prejudices. ?My concern was not to win more medals. The most important thing for me was to come back, she congratulated herself. Earlier today I watched some of the videos we recorded when I was in the hospital with ?Cammie? [sa fille Camryn] and on the track – those really, really tough times – that’s where I tried to tap into. “

After two difficult years – she failed for the first time since 2003 to qualify individually for the 2019 Worlds – her umpteenth Olympic podium rewards talent and courage. ?It changed everything. It gave me a different motivation and it confronted me with many challenges. It’s even more meaningful to be on the track as a mom ?, she delivered about her motherhood.

In a tribune at New York Times, she had denounced the financial conditions imposed by her equipment supplier for athletes returning to competition after maternity. His pay had fallen by 70%. Felix had won his case and the new contracts now guarantee the payment of wages and bonuses for eighteen months after giving birth. “This is one of the examples of the sports industry where the rules are still mainly made by and for men”, she regretted.

In Tokyo, Allyson Felix will have once again proved that the history of Olympism was also written in women.

The veteran vocalist has recently recalled a great anecdote that relates him to one of the greatest music stars of the last century. As he himself has stated, Don docks I work for Frank Sinatra, an American icon for whom in his youth he did a cleaning service in the waters of Lake Tahoe, where Sinatra owned a dock.

This is the story that Don has explained in an interview with Max Volume:

?He had a dock, where his boat was, and he had a lot of parties. Lake Tahoe’s water is crystal clear; you can walk along the pier and look down and see beer cans and whiskey bottles, the bottom of the lake was full. And I guess he? I can’t be sure, but during the days of John F. Kennedy and Marilyn Monroe, he would bring Marilyn and Kennedy with them when they were having their affair. So yeah, he hired me and two of my friends to dive in, collect all those bottles and clean his little dock. “.

?If anyone knows anything about Lake Tahoe, it’s that its water is ice cold. It is very cold. And I swear to God I only weighed about 68 kilograms or so. The lake was only ten feet deep. I wasn’t even able to swim to the bottom, so I put rocks in the pockets of my bathing suit so I could sink. I had a bag, I collected the bottles as fast as I could, then I took the stones out of my pockets and floated to the surface again. “Dokken continued to explain.

Don concluded by revealing in what he invested the money that Sinatra paid him: ?I remember after the summer my mother took me to Reno and I went to a pawn shop. The guy at the store was trying to convince me to buy a Fender Stratocaster, which I now regret, because it was probably worth a fortune now. But I didn’t want a Strat, I wanted a Fender Mustang. And it was azure blue. I bought a baby blue Fender Mustang. Thanks Frank “.

In spring and summer, the whole of Japan is passionate about a baseball competition that is neither professional nor even university. This is high school baseball, in a country where this sport imported from the United States in the 19th century is almost a religion.

It is not surprising that baseball, absent from the Olympics since 2008, is making a comeback, as an additional sport, from Wednesday on the Olympic program for the Tokyo Games: it is by far the most popular in the Japanese archipelago where the children of every town and village devote themselves to it every weekend under the watchful eye of parents and passers-by.

More than a century after the sport was introduced by an English teacher from the United States, Japan made baseball its own.

In Japan, “all children play baseball,” Itaru Kobayashi, a former Lotte Marines player from Chiba (a suburb of Tokyo), who became a teacher at Oberlin University in the Japanese capital, told AFP.

The sport “was invented in the United States, but we fell in love with it,” he adds.

Baseball was first introduced as a school sport in 1872 by Tokyo teacher Horace Wilson, but became popular thanks to a game where a high school team from the capital beat a group of foreign residents in 1896.

The victory made headlines in Japan, igniting a wave of passion for the sport and other encounters against American teams.

“These matches had symbolic importance, because the Japanese were behind (the Americans, Editor’s note) in many aspects, such as trade and industry,” said Robert Whiting, a baseball expert who lived in Japan for several decades.

“The message was: + if we can beat the Americans at their own game, we can surely overtake them in other areas +”, he summarizes.

A professional league developed in the 1930s, but it was after World War II (where Japan was defeated by the United States) that baseball became the national pastime, with amateur baseball in particular being worshiped for. its “purity” because it is not driven by money.

This flame is still burning, as recently proved by the crowd of fans and cheerleaders gathered for a match of “Tokyo 6”, a league of six of the main universities of the capital.

Fumihiko Kaneko, 31, had arrived four hours before, although in possession of a ticket. “I’ve been a fan since I was a kid.”

But by far the most important event in baseball is the final of the biannual high school baseball tournament, nicknamed the Koshien, named after the stadium in western Japan where the final clash takes place.

The Koshien has in the past gathered up to 50% of the viewers of the Archipelago and the sound of its broadcast on the radio is as typical of the Japanese summer as the song of the cicadas.

This fervor also creates a less festive aspect, with lingering concerns about the intensity of training and the pressure on young players.

“I don’t only have good memories of baseball,” said Takuya Honda, who practiced it for twelve years at school, but was never able to participate in Koshien.

Itaru Kobayashi thinks this sport is particularly suitable for Japan, because it is “like a ritual” and is characterized by “uniformity and obedience to orders”: “Work as a team, be united by the team. We love it “.

The creation of the first professional football league in the 1990s raised fears for the popularity of baseball.

But after briefly declining, it started again, thanks in particular to the aura of stars like Shohei Ohtani, playing for the Los Angeles Angels in the prestigious Major League Baseball (MLB).

The Olympic tournament takes place in Fukushima (northeast of Japan) to draw attention to the reconstruction of the region after the disaster of March 2011.

But from a more patriotic point of view, one match in particular would fascinate the country according to Mr. Kobayashi: Japan – United States. For Japanese baseball, he believes, beating the United States, “Japan’s rival for a hundred years”, will be “the ultimate goal”.

Yuli Gurriel he’s on his way to at least one of the two best seasons of his major league career. The Spiritus native has already set a personal best in walks and has an offensive line of .324 / .388 / .490 (AVG / OBP / SLG), if he maintains those figures they would be the highest for a season.

Gurriel did not play in the series against the Dodgers in Los Angeles due to a neck problem. He missed the Tuesday and Wednesday games that ended the Astros’ tour of the National League West stadiums and Thursday’s against the Twins at home.

On the afternoon of this Friday, the team announced that it had put the Cuban on the disabled list for 10 days due to the same stiff neck problem. Aledmys Díaz played first base in Los Angeles and Martín Maldonado against the Twins.

Google is alerting its community to the end of Google Play Music, scheduled for February 24, 2021. It is high time to transfer your data to YouTube Music or to bring them back to your computer.

If you use Google Play Music, beware: on February 24, 2021, the service will shut down for good. All data will be deleted on this date, including files in your music library. You still have a few hours to decide what you want to do: back up your files to the computer or transfer them to YouTube Music.

Google Play Music
The email we received at the editorial office at the beginning of February.

Back up or transfer your data

Normally, you should have received a notification from Google if the termination of the service affects you. In an email, the American company recalls that if you want to save your data, this is done through the Google Takeout service. You must then choose the data you want to recover (by default, everything is checked) and the conditions under which you want to retrieve them.

Google offers two solutions for content on Google Play Music: transfer or backup.

Another solution: switch your Google Play Music library and data to YouTube Music. Once the appropriate account has been selected, all you have to do is initiate the transfer. Note that the process, once started, can take up to 24 hours. In other words, it’s best to get started early and not wait until the last minute. A notification is sent by Google at the end of the process.

YouTube Music is a service that saw the light of day in 2015, but really took off in 2018. The arrival of this new music streaming service nevertheless raised the question of what was going to happen to Google Play Music, which was already occupying this niche. Three years later, the Mountain View firm finally decided: Google Play Music, which was no longer a duplicate, is shut down.
