Trailer for Prehistoric Planet, the Jurassic documentary on Apple TV +

On the one hand, the most recent discoveries in paleontology con state-of-the-art image integration techniques that allow the viewer to live a unique and truly immersive experience which, by now, makes it possible to believe that what you are seeing is completely real.

The support of technology and photorealistic special effectspreviously used in the live-action versions of the jungle book y The Lion King, They manage to blur the boundaries of reality. The great changes that have taken place since Walking with Dinosaurs (1999) y dinosaur planet (2011) until now.

But there are also several institutions on board prehistoric planet: on the one hand the prestigious and committed David Attenborough, the greatest scientific popularizer in the field of nature of our days whose mere presence raises the production above any other (you will hear the unmistakable voice of José María del Río in the Spanish dubbing).

On the other hand, you can enjoy the original soundtrack composed by two-time Oscar winner Hans Zimmer. This is a work far removed from other recent ones such as Dune, no time to die o Top Gun Maverickreleased in theaters this week, but that does not stop it from bringing incredible strength to each of the passages portrayed in the documentary.

Right from the start, prehistoric planet It feeds the idea that it is going to leave the expectations of the audience in the rearview mirror. If we are used to (largely due to the representation of fiction in movies like the Jurassic Park saga) seeing the Tyrannosaurus Rex as a great predator, now we will see it being the prey of another great marine saurian and tending to its offspring.

But it is only the beginning of an amazing journey that will make us understand the incredible diversity of life in the Cretaceous, sailing the seas with bioluminescent creatures, witnessing the first flight of the young Alcyons, the struggles for the territory of two mosasaurids or the birth of one of the creatures that have gestated the largest babies in the entire history of planet Earth: the Tuarangisaurus.

prehistoric planet It’s a delight wherever you look: painstakingly documented, brought to the screen with true love for detail and passionately approaching its object of study, transmits a whole series of values ??that make it a mandatory viewing.

Among others, respect for nature, curiosity to know more and the moving feeling of understanding these incredible extinct beings by observing behaviors that until now we could not even have imagined. In a nutshell, this is a documentary miniseries that is a dream come true.

We remind you in passing that June arrives Jurassic World: Dominion, so we have many great saurians left to enjoy in a big way. Chris Pratt has already assured that it will be the last film in the saga, but we are clear that his future is more than assured now that we can see them in detail and almost feel his breathing and the beating of his heart as if they were by our side.

Metal Gear has always been considered a very special saga, but for special it was Metal Gear Rising, a spin off game that won over a few fans for its explosiveness in the hack’n’slash section that Platinum Games is so good at.

Almost a decade has passed since the launch of this title and it is now that it is truly “rising”. The game has not seen such a wave of popularity since its release. Why is this happening? The answer is always in the memes.

How the memes? What yes, what Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance is experiencing a massive player “boom” thanks to memes.

The game has had an increase of more than 1000% of concurrent players on Steam and has peaked in achievement activity on all platforms. Without a doubt, we are facing a rare phenomenon, but really interesting.

But why are people making Metal Gear Rising memes in 2022? Better to ask why not. The truth is that the game is especially sensitive to this type of practice and is a real time mine for Twitter users. Let’s just say the game lends itself to wacky humor.

Platinum’s unique style has served during these days to launch all kinds of gifs and memes with some of the scenes from the game or with the words of its protagonists and famous characters, such as Steven Armstrong.

You only have to take a look at the responses to the tweet that we have attached to see what we are talking about.

And be careful because beyond this movement, 2022 has left us with interesting news. Last April Konami registered the Metal Gear Rising and Castlevania trademarks in Japan.

If you never threw yourself into this particular and charismatic work, you better adjust your suit and katana, because it doesn’t seem like a better time than now to dedicate a few hours to it. If you want to know more about the game, do not hesitate to take a look at our analysis from back then.

Metal Gear Rising takes the action a step further with its new cutting mechanics, over-the-top, over-the-top action, and an unforgettable cast of villains. Too bad the experience is as intense as it is ephemeral.

And of course, because this game stars in one of the 10 moments in the history of video games that left us completely out of place. Cinnamon stick.

After a noticeable absence in the initial teaser that premiered online back in April, Christian Bale’s Gorr the God Butcher finally arrives in the latest trailer for Marvel Studios’ Thor: Love and Thunder. Originally created by the duo of writer Jason Aaron and artist Esad Ribi? in the pages of Thor: God of Thunder, the dreaded villain is on a rampage to rid the universe of immortal deities. Well, they’re technically not immortal if they can be killed, but you know what we mean.

In any case, Gorr ? who was nearly set up by the Moon Knight TV show ? has been described by Love and Thunder director/co-writer Taika Waititi as “one of the best villains that’s Marvel’s had in their films. He’s very layered.” Yeah, layered and deadly. The dude wants to spill as much blood (or, in this case, ichor) from every omnipotent being ? from Chris Hemsworth’s Thor to Russell Crowe’s Zeus.

Having left Earth with the Guardians of the Galaxy at the end of Avengers: Endgame, Thor decides to shed his love handles and lead a life of quiet pacifism. All of that gets derailed by the arrival of Gorr, forcing Thor to embark on one last cosmic adventure with old allies like King Valkyrie (Tessa Thompson), Korg (Waititi), and, most surprising of all, Jane Foster (Natalie Portman), the mortal scientist who now wields Mjolnir.

Chris Pratt (Star-Lord), Dave Bautista (Drax), Karen Gillan (Nebula), Pom Klementieff (Mantis), Bradley Cooper (Rocket Raccoon), and Sean Gunn (Kraglin) reprise their Guardians of the Galaxy characters. It’s unclear how much screen time they’ll actually get in the film. Matt Damon, who previously appeared in Thor: Ragnarok as an Asgardian thespian portraying the Dark World tragedy of Loki, will appear in a mystery role.

Ragnarok felt a bit like a party,” Waititi said during an interview with Entertainment Weekly. “It was quite festive. This one is still fun, and it’s got moments of being over the top, but thematically, it’s about something a bit deeper than the last film. It’s not a serious film, and it’s not a drama, but we do deal with ideas that I think a lot of humans deal with ? universal themes about love and loss and our place in the world. Everyone sort of asks this question in the film: What is your purpose? What is the reason that you’re a hero, and what do you do when you have these powers?”

Louis D?Esposito, Victoria Alonso, Brian Chapek, and Todd Hallowell serve as executive producers on Love and Thunder. Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige (he’s also Chief Creative Officer of Marvel Entertainment) is a producer alongside What If…? alum, Brad Winderbaum. Waititi wrote the screenplay with Jennifer Kaytin Robinson.

Thor: Love and Thunder hits the big screen Friday, July 8.

If you’re in the mood for more rollicking sci-fi action in the meantime, head over to Peacock to check out the science fiction film line-up, including Firestarter, Independence Day, Armageddon, Gamer, Resident Evil and more.

Driven by international institutions and NGOs, does the ?transitional? justice set up in countries ravaged by civil wars, dictatorships or genocide succeed in rebuilding peace and democracy? This is the question posed by Sandrine Lefranc, research director at the CNRS, in a rigorous and critical work: How to get out of violence? Challenges and limits of transitional justice (CNRS Editions, 480 pages, 28 euros).

How would you define transitional justice?

Invented by a handful of academics and human rights activists in the late 1980s, transitional justice aims to establish peace and reconciliation in countries that have just gone through violent conflicts ? genocides, wars civilians ? or dictatorships. This justice goes well beyond penal sanctions: it also takes up questions related to the organization of peace, the elaboration of a historical narrative and the reparations due to the victims. At the start, transitional justice looked a lot like political tinkering, but it quickly acquired a moral: today it tries to implement a dialogue around the past, to generate social cohesion and to emerge a rule of law.

What, in your view, are the most emblematic examples of this justice?

The most emblematic mechanism of transitional justice is the Truth and Reconciliation Commission, tested in more than fifty countries, particularly in Latin America after the dictatorships. These institutions have the mission to listen to the victims, to recognize their suffering and to build a historical narrative on past violence. The most successful example of this approach is South Africa, where the Commission listened to 2,000 victims speaking in eleven different languages.

The first “commandment” of transitional justice, you say, is the “accountability” of criminals. How does this mission differ from that of traditional criminal justice?

Transitional justice was built around an observation: we cannot always penalize dictators, because they remain the interlocutors of the democratic powers in place. Rather than judging and condemning them, as the
does traditional criminal justice, this system therefore proposes to make them accountable. The Truth and Reconciliation Commissions do not pronounce on the guilt of individuals: they designate the State, a police force or a militia as responsible for the misfortune suffered by the victims. They try to circulate in society a new way of conceiving the past: the one who presents himself as the savior of the fatherland appears as the culprit, and the one who was denounced as a subversive militant becomes a victim.

Read also Article reserved for our subscribers In Colombia, the difficult process of transitional justice

Festival debuting in the once again full scene of music events in Brazil, Mita (initials of ?music in the answer?) ended its activities on Sunday (15) with a great show by the band Gorillazled by the genius Damon Albarn, the brain behind Blur.

O Gorillaz was born in 1998 in England as a virtual band, that is, instead of real musicians appearing at shows, animated characters were stars. The band was conceived by Damon Albarn and the cartoonist Jamie Hewlettco-creator of the comic book Tank Girland has four animated characters as members: 2-D, Murdoc, Noodle e Russel.

All this comic book narrative, combined with the band’s sound, full of instruments with fun timbres, such as the melodica (a type of keyboard that is played as if it were a flute) and Albarn’s vocal muffled as if singing through a megaphone, has always made Gorillaz a favorite band for children. In the late afternoon of last Sunday, it was seen at Mita, a great meeting of fathers and mothers with many children in the audience.

Unlike previous tours, Gorillaz performed with the musicians on stage and not behind a projection where the big stars used to be the characters created to bring the band to virtual life. Whoever went to Mita last Sunday could see Damon Albarn, at 54, at his best, playing various instruments, descending to the audience, singing into his iconic ham radio microphone and being very, very friendly with the fans who packed the audience, hundreds of them wearing band t-shirts.

Albarn is the heart of Gorillaz and runs the dance with the cool air of someone who knows he’s a leader for good. The band chosen to accompany him was of the highest level, with drummer, keyboardist, guitarist and, one of the highlights of the show, the groove and elegance of the bassist. In addition, a suit of heavy vocalists, and appearances by De La Soul rappers on the tracks Superfast Jellyfish e Feel Good Incone of the band’s biggest hits.

With a set that took a tour of the band’s career, with video projections and other supermodern interventions on the big screens, the Gorillaz delivered everything and a little more, exciting the audience who sang along most of the songs of the show. A Sunday to remember who it was, and especially a great blessing for the newcomer Mita. This Saturday (21) there’s more Gorillaz at Mita RJ. Check the line-up and prices here.

QUIET CLIMATE, BOLD LINE-UP

It is true that a festival is not born ready and perfect. But Mita managed to deliver a lot that other events take years to round out. Let’s start with the lease. The brand new Spark Arena, which is adjacent to another large venue, Arca, is an open space, wide, flat and covered with grass. For Mita, the organization of the entrance lines worked well during most of the event, except for some peak moments. In general, it did very well in the reception, with a very polite staff and marked by diversity (a team with young black people, many women, cis and trans, and PCDs).

On the artistic side, you can say that the festival was quite daring. A line-up that can be called a little commercial for an event with a capacity of 10, 15 or even 20 thousand people, is not for amateurs. The cool thing is that it has impacted different generations, from the well-born young girl who enjoys the electronic pop sound of Australians from Soil Rüfüs until Gilbert Gilone of the fathers of Brazilian music, Mita’s spectrum was very wide, but he didn’t go through music that necessarily makes the head of crowds.

Gilberto Gil with his granddaughter Flor. Thrilled, she couldn’t hold back the tears. Credit: Tatiane Silvestroni

Some moments will remain for posterity, such as Gil’s show, which brought several family members to the stage. Emotions were running high when he invited his granddaughter, Flor Gil, 13, to come on stage and sing with him. Emotional, she ended up bursting into tears ? as Gil himself said, it was the first time his granddaughter performed with him at a festival.

The inclusion of a good number of women from the new MPB, as Marina SenaLetruxLuedji LunaLarissa LuzAlice CaymmiLiniker e Xenia Francearoused the interest of those who consume Brazilians, and artists such as Matuê, Heavy Baile, Marcelo D2 e john brought in an even younger audience. Not to mention the inclusion of Marcos Valle & Azymuthpure delight for fans of jazzy bossa nova, and Two Door Cinema Clubfor those nostalgic for the electronic scene of the 2010s.

Mita is the first festival produced in partnership by the companies Bonus Track, owned by Luiz Oscar Niemeyer and Luiz Guilherme Niemeyer, and 30E ? Thirty Entertainment, and will take place annually. The musical curatorship is signed in partnership with MangoLab, a musical platform that was also responsible for the visual creation of the project. The event made an effort to have breathing areas, such as a large food court with tables and benches and many bars scattered throughout the space (which did not prevent huge queues near the stages, to buy beer and food – I spent almost 1 hour in line to get hamburgers and fries for my daughters).

As well as late festivals like Terra, Mita had two stages, with alternating programming, which reduced the wait between shows. It was the time for people to move from one stage to another.

The public took advantage of the tables in the festival’s food area to rest and eat. Credit: Tatiane Silvestroni

In the two days of the festival, it was clear that there were many guests, with VIP bracelets. Normal. For a first year, without any prior knowledge about the Mita brand and with a line-up without supercommercial names, it was necessary to have an audience. We don’t know about final numbers, but it was clear that a lot more people would fit, which created a sense of comfort for those who were there. Even for those with children, like me, there were no major tensions or worries at any time.

Another point that deserves applause was the sound. With powerful bass and a pleasant volume, it was possible to hear the shows well from different parts of the audience. We know the work and the cost that it entails, so clap-clap-clap!

End of party on Sunday and of course dispersion would be a problem. Not because of the exit from the festival, which took place without major struggles, but because the laugh always occurs in large events involving transportation. For those who didn’t want to face the walk to the nearest subway station, the solution was to embitter exorbitant values ??practiced by most taxi drivers. Luckily, we boarded with Everaldo, self-proclaimed ?the happiest taxi driver in São Paulo?, who remained firm in charging the amount shown on the taximeter. As he himself told us when we got into the taxi, ?luck doesn’t exist, everything is merit?. So be it for Mita and for future editions to come.

The 1969 work will be the star of the nightly sale of art dedicated to the 20th and 21st centuries, which will take place this Thursday at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Center. With the James Bond soundtrack as a backdrop, Christie’s recorded a video that shows the connection between the famous painter from Malaga and the great actor, considered by many to be the best 007 in Hollywood cinema. THE MORNING LIST

To explore a forgotten castle or an abandoned factory, without permission, is to enter both unknown and possibly dangerous territory, and a bygone past, of which only the dilapidated walls remain. The most seasoned ?urbexers? maximize their sensations by posting their images on social networks. Here are five books about urbex.

Old prison and ghost towns

?Urbex Monde?, by Jonk, Arthaud editions, 176 pages, 21 euros.

Ce ?photographer and adventurer? prefers to hide behind his pseudonym. Jonk, therefore, roams the planet in search of fallow buildings that he explores without authorization.

Among the thirty-five rigorously selected places, some have known several successive histories, such as this former prison which was first an abbey, in Loos (North), or this Italian religious hospice converted into a military college and then into a psychiatric hospital. Military cities, ghost towns, abandoned amusement parks or car cemeteries hold no secrets for him.

In the beautiful texts that accompany striking images, the author tells in the first person his emotions, “the plop-plop of the drops hitting the ground”the smell of ashes, the fear of meeting looters or guards and their dog, the stopped clocks which continue to give the time of a bygone past.

nature’s revenge

The urbex consists in exploring a world without humans, built from scratch, but neglected, then forgotten by its creators. “History has taught us that nature always finds a way to regain the upper hand”writes, in the preamble, the photographer Romain Veillon.

This apocalyptic bias guides his gaze, from the dusty paneling and parquet floors of an Aquitaine palace or a Jura castle to the gloomy staircases of an Irish manor, passing through the cracked ceilings of a Ligurian villa and this “hall of the hanged in a mine in the Rhineland, where miners stored their clothes in metal baskets hung from the ceiling.

As you turn the pages, nature takes its revenge. Ferns and brambles, ivy and mold invade a mansion or an abandoned water park. In a Tuscan villa, here, lying on the ground, is a human form. It’s a mannequin, ultimate relief of our presence.

The last session

?Movie theaters?, by Yves Marchand and Romain Meffre, Prestel Publishing, 304 pages, 78 euros.

Movie theaters were once popular meeting places in the United States, especially in small towns in the Midwest. Today, while everyone can watch a film on their smartphone, cities have devitalized and large screens no longer interest many people. There remain the colorful and ornate facades of these movie theatersbuilt like small theatres.

Staffers at People are ?appalled? over the magazine?s new Rebel Wilson issue, claiming that their new boss blew off concerns that the cover story is ?fat-shaming? and spreads ?misinformation? about weight and fertility, The Post has learned.

In the issue that hit newsstands Friday, a svelte Wilson was quoted as saying that in 2019 when she was 39, she had an appointment with a fertility doctor, who told her she?d have more success freezing her eggs if she lost weight.

?He looked me up and down and said, ?You?d do much better if you were healthier,’? the actress told People, noting that she already felt healthy and that the ?rude? remarks finally sank in after the initial shock.

?He was right. I was carrying around a lot of excess weight. It?s almost like I didn?t think of my own needs. I thought of a future child?s needs that really inspired me to get healthier,? the ?How to Be Single? actress said.

Actress Rebel Wilson said she decided to lose weight after an IVF doctor told her she would have more success freezing her eggs.

Staffers accused new editor Liz Vaccariello of taking a fluffy approach to weight loss and fertility without providing insight from medical experts or any scientific information with the interview. They warned that being overweight was being conflated with infertility, and said the magazine glossed over explaining Wilson?s diagnosis of polycystic ovary syndrome, a hormonal disorder common among women of reproductive age.

?Several people expressed discomfort with various angles of the Rebel story in multiple meetings,? a source close to the situation told The Post. ?It was like Liz just didn?t want to hear it or didn?t care. It isn?t that there?s no validity to the idea that weight can impact fertility. But the way we presented it is not right.?

A rep for People said: ?These claims are complete fabrications. This did not happen.?

The story got paired with a video set to sad music featuring ?before and after? photos of Wilson, now 80 pounds lighter, as well as a glossy cover shoot. The breezy approach was ?never? done by previous entertainment-savvy editors like Dan Wakeford and his predecessor Jess Cagle, the source said.

?Basically we?ve just put it out there that a man declared Rebel too fat to have babies and she decided he was right. Full stop,? the source said. ?Then we showed a bunch of her fat pictures in the cover story like some sort of tragic ?before? scenario. It?s fat-shaming and misinformation and completely unbalanced with any sort of expert medical discussion.?

Vaccariello has been under the microscope since she took over as editor in chief in February, after Barry Diller?s IAC bought the People parent Meredith. Staffers recently told The Post that the editor lacks entertainment contacts, even though she held top jobs at Real Simple, Parents, Reader?s Digest and Every Day with Rachael Ray.

As previously reported by The Post, higher-ups in IAC?s digital media division DotDash Meredith, which owns People, InStyle, Entertainment Weekly and other brands, are taking a scalpel to the business.

After closing a slew of print publications, The Post reported, execs are looking for ways to trim the fat, which may include reducing the frequency of the 48-year-old weekly celebrity magazine.
